Consultation and Fees
Referral and Consultation
If you require a private consultation with me for a breast or general surgical condition, first contact your local GP to send me a referral.
However if it is urgent, for example a breast lump, I will be happy to see you urgently without a GP referral.
I make allowances in my clinics to see urgent cases.
Contact my secretary if you are having difficulties booking direct into my clinics at The Chaucer Hospital or One Ashford Hospital
Appointments can be arranged within 24 hours through my secretary on 0750 049 3426.
You can email your referral to info@kentbreastsurgeon.com or bring your referral letter along with you.
During your initial consultation I will review your medical history and perform the appropriate clinical examination.
We will have a full discussion of any investigations and available treatment options including any proposed surgery and the potential risks and complications. Some procedures like fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), core biopsy of breast lumps and nipple biopsy may be performed during this consultation.
Consultation Fee
Following your consultation you will receive an invoice.
This is payable by cash, cheque or bank transfer after your appointment and covers any further pre-operative visits if you require more information before making a decision about surgery.
There may be extra charges if a minor procedure was carried out during the consultation.
Surgical Fee
Insured patients
If you have private medical insurance it is important you contact your insurance provider prior to any proposed surgery to ensure your policy will cover the cost of the procedure.
You will be given an authorisation code.
Check for any exclusions or funding limits in your policy and if you have to pay an excess.
Private drug prescriptions are not usually covered on insurance policies.
Self-Pay patients
If you have no healthcare insurance, fixed price packages are available at the The One Ashford and Chaucer Hospitals. T
his will be provided after your initial consultation or on request beforehand from my private secretary or directly from the hospital so you are aware of the total costs involved before making a decision on surgery.
The package includes a surgeon’s fee covering your post-operative care and one follow up visit, an anaesthetic fee and a hospital fee.
It is payable in advance of the proposed procedure.
You can swap between private and NHS treatment at any time.
